Irish-born, Naarm/Melbourne-based banjo player and singer Maggie Carty brings her powerhouse trio to MONA as part of her national album launch tour of Ebb and Flow. Known for her evocative vocals, driving banjo rhythms, and genre-blending arrangements, Maggie’s music fuses Irish traditional roots with influences from Americana, and Australian folk.

This performance is a key stop on her national tour Ebb and Flow: Songlines of the Diaspora supported by Culture Ireland,  ahead of her return to the state for Cygnet Folk Festival in 2026. 

Joined by guitar, flute and percusion, Maggie delivers reimagined folk songs full of groove, grit, and soul - drawing on themes of emigration, heritage, and belonging.
